The Rainbow Connection

It’s been raining in DC every day for over a week. Quite unusual actually. The heavy bursts of rain come with a quickness, then the sun emerges again. I was joking with my honey via text that “I’m stuck in the rain AGAIN!” Well, today was no different….except for the big rainbow in the sky. I’ve been looking for one all week, but today was the day, and I didn’t miss it.

What is it about rainbows that is so magical? I had to pull over on the side of the road and just stare (take a picture), and stare some more. I felt so alive, enlightened, and in love I just wanted to cry. I wished I could slide down it. I dreamed my love would be waiting at the end of it. Seemed like it could possibly happen…then the f**cker behind me started laying on the god damned horn. Motherf**cker.

…still I feel blessed that my eyes witnessed such beauty today.

…I also realized that Kermit the Frog is one hell of a lyricist…

"The Rainbow Connection"

written by Kermit the Frog

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it,
And look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

All of us under its spell,
We know that it's probably magic...
... Have you been half asleep? And have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
... Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm s'posed to be...

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

Comes to somethin' when a frog gets it right.....Jim Henson was a genius.

I dare Khali Celeste to cover "Somewhere over the Rainbow"

Mind you you'd probably do it proud!

Kermit - yeah! One of my all time heroes.

Best version of Somewhere over the Rainbow? ..... For me John Martyns stunning version on an old lp called Saphire - I think. Crikey I'll be in the loft looking out soon just to replay it.
