Where does the time go?

Well...long time no write. My mind has been filled with so many things, it's been tough to even fathom collecting them together in some organized fashion in order to get them to blog land. Can't believe it...It's mid-term.

Half way through my last semester of classes.

Soon I will be starting my six month internship. One of the last steps I must take in order to become a Board Certified
Music Therapist. I am so excited. Being in school for music certainly can be stressful though. Right now I have three main instruments to practice each day...Guitar, Piano, and Percussion, not to mention the other classes I have that all together total 20 credit hours...then there is work...then there is the band. Ah..the band is going so well. We are working with management and booking companies. Our web site is being built, we interviewed with a writer who will be compiling our bio...geeze my mind is racing because I have so much to tell you...let's back up here for a second...

My internship decision is made. It was the most difficult decision I have ever had to make. All of a sudden I found myself faced with being accepted by all the sites I applied to. I had the option to go to Costa Mesa, California... less than a mile from my best friends house. I also got accepted to Tennessee...only 85 miles from the love of my life. The only thing keeping me from packing up and leaving is my band. Such a big deal considering how much we've worked to get where we are...such a big deal considering the fact that three people besides myself have their lives invested in the project...SUCH a big FUCKING deal considering we're working on a management agreement...But my love...my best friend...all great places to intern...my band...my apartment...my cat...LA possibly?...I could start a new band? NO. Nothing is wrong with the one I have...and besides I'll be back home in 6 months...all such a big deal.

So...where am I going complete my internship?

At a Center in Vienna, Virginia. I will be working with severely
Autistic and developmentally disabled children and young adults. Some higher force directed me to that place. I knew I wanted to work with the Autistic population, but I had no idea that one of the best facilities was right around the corner from me.

What an awesome place.

The Music Therapist has been doing this for 20 years now. She is spectacular. I know I am about to learn from one of the best. The facility has everything...like... a
multi-sensory room (which is a blast! There are light up toys, fiber optics, glow in the dark things, virbroacoustic technology via use of a SOMATRON you name it they've got it!)...and high tech electronics that make it possible for those who can not speak to communicate. There is a transitional program where higher functioning individuals around the ages of 16-22 learn independent living skills. The MOVE program is special to this establishment as well. Once a week I will be assisting the patients on special equipment that will help enhance their mobility. The mobile equipment is fun. Some items resemble bikes and tricycles etc. The equipment in conjunction with music should really get them going!

Now I'm rambling because I have so much to say, but so little time. I do want to say that I miss you all and think about you. You are my friends and I wonder how you are doing...

...and thanks to those who voted for my band online. We made it to the second round!!!! One of the top 35 out of about 150...

..and my niece spoke her first words. What were they? Well, I'll give you a hint:

He lives in a pineapple under the sea.

That's right.

SPONGE BOB. Squarepants, that is.

YEESSS...her first words were "Sponge Bob."

Go ahead and laugh :/

:) Talk to you soon. Love ya'all
